In the island of Sardinia, in the heart of the Mediterranean, the University of Sassari (UNISS) is a small-medium university, it includes over 10 thousand students and favours the integration of incoming students within the academic community and the establishment of enriching personal relationships.  UNISS offers a wide range of multi-disciplinary courses (58 degree courses with 21 2nd level in Italian and English), post-graduate studies and research activities, including PhD courses, medical specialization schools, advanced training programs and international exchange projects. The University has promoted its international dimension since its foundation in 1617; it has large experience in the management of cooperation and international research projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America and Europe. Its strategies are consolidated in the services provided for both incoming and outgoing students: foreign language (intensive free courses of Italian language and culture); access to the services and benefits, help desk and mentoring services at departmental level. An active social life is animated by the ESN Association and the many other student associations of the different departments.
