University of Tuscia, Viterbo

The University of Tuscia (UNITUS) is a public, medium-sized university located in Viterbo, with campuses situated in and around its historic center. Viterbo is the northernmost province of Lazio, in the heart of Italy, located less than 100 km from Rome and just over 200 km from Florence. Founded in 1979, UNITUS quickly evolved into the cultural and educational hub of the province, offering courses designed to meet the needs of local, national, and international students. The strong synergy between the university and local institutions has led to the development of five distinct campuses. The university is organized into six departments: the Department of Legal, Social, and Educational Sciences (DIKE); the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, History, Philosophy, and Law Studies (DISTU); the Department of Economics, Engineering, Society, and Business Organization (DEIM); the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB); the Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences (DAFNE); and the Department for Innovation in Biological, Agro-Food, and Forest Systems (DIBAF). Three of these campuses are located in Viterbo's historic city center, while two additional campuses are situated in Rieti, in the Apennine Mountains (60 km from Viterbo), and Civitavecchia, on the coast (40 km from Viterbo). For the 2026/2027 academic year, UNITUS offers 21 Bachelor’s degrees, 22 Master’s degrees, 2 single-cycle degrees, and 9 PhD courses. All degree programs are specifically tailored to meet the evolving demands of the European and international job markets.
